Ring Alarm V2 Review
Adding a intruder alarm to your property is a easy way to increase security and add piece of mind. Unlike frontline security like locks a alarm system is a secondary form of security – for the alarm to be triggered a intruder has already entered but 99% will run for the hills once the alarm bell rings.
In all honesty having the visible signs of a alarm either with a bell box visible or even stickers in windows or doors alerting would be intruders that a alarm is present will send most of them on there way but most home insurance policy’s require a alarm to be present and used so fitting a dummy bell box or fake stickers isn’t really a option.
So do you choose a wireless or wired alarm for your home?
The advances in wireless technology has improved so much in recent years that for us we always feel it’s the better option, quick and simple to install with no need to lift floor boards or damage plastered walls and ceilings plus if you move home you can easily take the system with you just as quickly and easily.

First off after unboxing you find a very elegant styled device and components – the standard starting set is the 5-piece which comprises of
1. Base Unit
This is the brains of the system – it connects to your internet either via a lan cable or wifi and then connects to the components of the system via a energy saving type of wifi called zwave- using zwave dramatically increases batterie life of components so much do components will be fully functional for over 12 months.
2. System keypad
This is used to manually arm or disarm your alarm system you also have the option to set at home alarm setting where just certain components are armed like external doors but not PIRs so you can still have alarm set and protecting but also freedom to move around your home without triggering movement in rooms.
3. door contact
The 5-piece comes with one door contact but more can be purchased and added – door contacts are added to main external doors and when the alarm is set if a door is opened the alarm is triggered.
4. PIR
This is a motion detection unit s when armed if anyone was to enter the room the alarm will be triggered – if you have a pet dog or cat the the system can exclude motion below a certain height so the alarm can be set and let’s can still move around freely and not trigger the alarm.
5. Range extender
Zwave is a great energy saver but is limited by how far it can reach – if you have a large property or intend to protect external buildings then using this will make sure all areas are covered and protected.
